1. Minutes
The minutes of the 2Gth meeting of the Committee were approved.
2. The Near East and Africa Program
The Chairman opened discussion with a reference to the special
reports produced on the Near East and Africa, which reflect the program's
emphasis on reporting Bloc activities in those areas.
Nov member expressed satisfaction with the program Bad
reaffirmed Navy?s continuing interest in information on port and
harbor construction ix~ Africa.
Air Force member wished to defer comment, pending conclusion
of an AF'IC review of the program.

NSA member reported favorable reactioal to the Bloc-oriented
character of the program. He proposed as part of the program a systematic
collection of information an military, paramilitary and political leaders
A~ member had no suggestions for program revisions and indi-
cated that almost aRY information oan Africa would be found useful.

on Africa South of the Sahara the Chairman replied that the publication
was superseded by special reports designed to be more timely and to
meet specific need.

Among the reports already produced under the program, &tate

economic planning, on African reaction to the Moscow conference oY

developrnenta in the agricultural, medical and veterinary sciences and
in teleccamnunicationa, transportation, geology, hydrology and sanitation
in selected Africa~a areseo

The Chairman announced receipt of a PRQC7B reply to the CEFLP
memorandum recomruending clandestine ac~t3,ou for the procurement of
Chinese Communist publications and Stated that Gc~amrrittee members
would be provided with copies oY the reply.
