Heavy but inconclusive fighting continued on January 15 in the
area three to five miles northwest of Phnom Penh's Pochentong air-
port. Farther north, Khmer. Communist forces are keeping moderate
pressure on government units on Route 5. Army commanders are moving
reinforcements into Phnom Penh's southern defense line in anticipa-
tion of insurgent attacks later this week. In the countryside, a
five-battalion army force began a new road clearing operation yes-
terday on Route 4 just southwest of Kompong Speu City.
