MEMORANDUM FOR: General Alexander Haig
1? Some time ago you indicated to me that Henry had
requested and received from Ambassador Korry a post
mortem on the Chilean presidential election. In light
of this, I thought it might be useful for you to have a
post mortem from us, so that you would be in a position to
compare the two. I do not want to be misunderstood: I am
not questioning anyone's veracity, I simply want you to
have a version as seen through the eyes of my associates
most immediately concerned.
2. It may be that you do not want to keep this piece
of paper. In that events please return it to me by hand
and that will be the end of the matter.

MEMORANDUM FORt Dr. Henry A. Kissinger
1. This will confirm my remark to you yesterday
afternoon that I be authorized to take leave for two
weeks from 19 December to 4 January 1971. General Cushman
will have returned from Southeast Asia a few days before
my departure and will be in charge during my absence. I
intend to go to Jamaica as I did last year at this time.
2. NEW SUBJECT; I spoke to the Attorney General
about the Chile paper on Tract Two which I mentioned to
you. He said he would give it to you personally when he
sees you today. This is the safest way to get it in your
hands, because, as you well know, it is highly sensitive
and it should not float through normal handling channels.
