OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Friday - 7 July 1978
1. (Unclassified - NDL) FBIS Received a call from
Sally Scandalious, in the office of Representative Paul N.
McCloskey, Jr. (R., Calif.), who said they had not yet
received the FBIS Daily Report concerning the Middle East
and wondered when they might expect it. After checking
with FBIS Liaison, I called Ms. Scandalious back and told
her that the Daily Report had been sent but that FBIS would
send another one.
3. (Internal Use Only - PLC) LIAISON John Tipton, GAO,
called to alert us that during his discussion this morning
with the staff of Chairman Joshua Eilberg's (D., Pa.) House
Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship and
International Law, the staff indicated that only GAO would be
called to testify 19 July on its Nazi war criminals investigation
since they were not successful in making arrangements with the
other agencies. To date we have received no formal request to
testify.
4. (Unclassified - MG) LIAISON Called the office of
Senator Thomas F. Eagleton (D., Mo.) and left a message for
Miss Proctor to call me on Monday, 10 July, in connection with a
memorandum received from the Senator's office concerning obtaining
an Agency publication for a constituent. She was out on leave and
expected back in the office on Monday.
5. (Unclassified - MG) EMPLOYMENT REQUEST Received a call
from Anne Kerckhoff, in the office of Senator John C. Danforth
(R., Mo.), who requested some general information and an employment
package for a constituent. OLC Registry will handle.

ADDENDUM TO JOURNAL
OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Friday - 7 July 1978
1. (Unclassified - SF) LIAISON Sent by courier
to John Carbaugh, in the office of Honorable Jesse A.
Helms (R., N. Car.), the following publications, per
his request of 5 July: "China Oil Production Prospects,"
June 1977; xeroxed pages on Peoples Republic of China
and Taiwan from the National Intelligence Factbook,
January 1978; "China: International Trade, 1976-77,"
November 1977; "China's Economy," November 1977;
"China: Economic Indicators," October 1977; "A Study
of Climatological Research as it Pertains to Intelligence
Problems," August 1974; "Potential Implications of Trends
in World Population, Food Production, and Climate," August
1974; PRC Atlas and a wall chart on "Chinese Communist
Party Organizations," September 1977. These publications
are for Mr. Carbaugh's reading in advance of a speech the
Senator is preparing to make.
2. (Unclassified - DFM) LIAISON Called Lot Cooke,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, to inform him
we would prefer to have the Select Committee destroy the
materials we had provided them on the MKULTRA program rather
than returning them to the Agency. Cooke said he thought
that was satisfactory but because there was so much material
it might be a logistics problem. I said I would check with
the Office of Security to see if they could pick up the burn
bags for the Committee.
3. (Confidential - DFM) LIAISON Dave Fitzgerald,
Legislative Assistant to Senator Jake Garn (R., Utah), was
at Headquarters for an NFAC briefing on the general military,
political and economic situation in Rhodesia. Fitzgerald
leaves for Rhodesia on behalf of Senator Garn this afternoon.
