Draft of The United States in the Changing World Economy".
1. The attached presentation is intended to put into perspective how
this country has fared in the international economic arena especially since
1970. Many misunderstandings have persisted about this period, in part,
because perceptions have failed to keep up with the rapid and significant
changes taking place.
2. I would appreciate your suggestions before proceeding with the
graphics and a ten page overview that would draw together the various trends
described in the presentation, and that would indicate some important
implications for policy.
3. It would seem that an early to mid-May target date for dissemination
would be most appropriate considering the Economic Summit in June.
