1. The Trookenelementefabrik Zeitz oontirlues as heretofore to be occupied mainly with
producing. dry oell and plate batteries for the Volkspolizei and the Red Army.
In September 1953, 2,320 dry'.eell batteries for radio sets were delivered. The
production of plate ("B") batteries was 4,973.
2. The plant had large stocks of manganese dioxide, but as there have been no
further deliveries the stock is nearly exhausted and the management is trying T:c
obtain a supply from the Soviet Union, since the DHZ Chemie cannot make a firm
promise. No. deliveries are expected in October, so production will have to be
reduced sharply. Difficulties in the procurement of sheet zinc have also
hampered production.
