(Confidential - JGO) Met with Herb Roback, Staff Director, Legislation and Military Operations Subcommittee of the House-Government Operations Committee, and reviewed with him the various items of corres- pondence that have been received questioning whether training was given to particular municipal police departments. Roback saw no particular problem in releasing the names of any cities whose police were trained even though this information was specifically excluded from the information released by the Government Operations Committee or in the exchanges of correspondence. He said he would appreciate being kept up-to-date on our experiences in dealing with the various members on this question. 12. (Unclassified - JGO) Met with Mr. Frank Kieliger, in the office of Representative Phillip Burton (D. , Calif. ), and reviewed with him Burton's letter to the Agency concerning training of members of the San Francisco Police Department. I reviewed with Kieliger the training given members of the New York Police Department and various local departments as it has been covered in the press and stressed the theme with him that the Agency does not have a program of training police. In response to his specific question in the letter, I told him that two members of the San Francisco Police Department had attended a training session at an Agency installation on 15 and 16 April 1972 which was a briefing and demonstration on explosive residue detection techniques. Kieliger told me that he thought this would satisfy Burton's queries. No written response is necessary to Burton's 13. (Confidential - JGO) Received a call from Mike Finley, Inter- American Affairs Subcommittee staff of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Finley told me that Chairman Dante Fascell's (D. , Fla.) home office in Miami has received information from a reputable and competent attorney in the city concerning an individual who has information on a 'YEA C C'1 h1 P ?,u c l ea r reactor in South America.
