SUBJECT Testimony Before the House Subcommittee
on Foreign Operations and Government
Information by Mr. Robert Nooter on 12
November 1973
1. Action Requested: None. The following is
provided for your information.
2. Background: We recently received a copy of
testimony by Assistant Administrator for Supporting
Assistance, AID, Mr. Robert Nooter before the House Sub-
committee on Foreign Operations and Government Information
of the Committee on Government Operations. This subcommittee
met in executive session on 12 November 1972.
After reviewing the testimony we conclude that
Mr. Nooter handled the situation well. In a 14 December
conversation Mr. Nooter stated that there has been no
follow-up by the subcommittee, and the executive session
appears to have been little more than a one-day fishing
expedition. It does, however, underscore the continued
interest in CIA activities in Southeast Asia on the part
of Mr. McCloskey and Mrs. Abzug.
