In Burkach villages as throughout the majority of the Pleven areas most of the farmers belong to agricultural cooperatives. Of the 500 families in Burkach, 25X1 only 20 families are non-members. The non-members on approximately 1,000 to 1,500 decares of land and have been denounced as enemies of the people., sunflowers,, and cotton. In 1951, the farmers delivered 150,,000 kilograms of grain, corm, and barley to the State. After quotas had been met, the remainder of the harvest was divided among the members of the cooperative. For each "working The cooperative of Burkach controls some 20,000 decares of land and rases equip- ment from the Machine Tractor Station at Bezhanovo (N4313 E2L21.),, six kilometers from Burkach. Part of the purchase price of such equipment is paid in foodstuffs. Much of the farming of the cooperative lands is done manually.
