1. The following observations were made at Alt Loennewitz airfield between
25 August and 27 September 19.2:
25 August. No air activity. Six NiG-15s were parked in one line north of
the eastern edge of the runway. The planes were parked there at clay anC
night. (1) Between 8 and II p.m., Mid-15s took off in elements of to and
practiced local flying without any lighting facilities or search'_i.rhts in
operation.
26 Aug u.st. No air activity.
27 August. Between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., 12 .NiG-15s flew in elements of two
over the field.
2F August. No air activity. It rained, and there was a strong 4dnd.
29 August. Ten MiG-15s took off in elements of two, assembled over the
pie a.ireaded toward Torr:au. At about 5 p.m., 10 MiG-15s approached from
the south, circled over the field, and landed individually.
30 August. Between 7:30 and 11 a..., there was flying in eler!entn of -rv o.
A total of 28 elements were counted cro3sing the field. At noon, a total,
of 14 NiG-15s took off in elements of t.-yo within two minutes. The plants
headed toward the Elte River. The plan. is flew in ragged formation fir 3i :,nd
joined up in line abreast formation. The formation landed at 12:b5 p.m.
was no other air activity.
31 August. No flights were made*
1 September. In the afternoon, individual flights were made by i 1iG-1~;se 'i'ha
weathbr was clear.
2 September. At 7:1u a.-ii., eight MiG-15:3 took off within 3 minutes hcac:.ir; ?
toward the Elbe River. At 12:10 p.m., eight individual Iti.G=-15s approc,ci er
from the south and landed at the field. Between 8 and about 11:1:5 p.r,, there
was night flying. The first take-offs were observed at 8, 8:0k, (U:0: 1.:10
8:15, 8:26, 8:31, 8:42, 8:46 and 8:52 p.m. No spotlights or sear(-l11-7 ?h1ts xwae-re

3 September. Twelve Pi7-15s took off in rapid succession air 9:30
heading southeast. It rained. The planes landed ;.ndividtiaily at the fit l
at 11:30 a.m.
4 September. There was no air activity tl roughoat the day. Night fl-yin
started at 7:30 p.m., while searchlights 'were in operation.
5 September. Light MiC-15s took off heading southeast. No more fli'hts
were made while it was raining.

observed MiG-15s at dispersal area III on the eastern edge, 4 L. at
dispersal area II, which was bordered by - a11s of earth to the north, cn tie
northern edge of the field, east of the road to Falkenberg, and It Mi.G-]_St
at dispersal area I west of the road to Fal!ccnber ;. An additional four i x'.191.3
and a conventional rlane were parked without any pattern in front of the
hangars. (3) At 10:15 a.m., four iiG-15s were towed by a motor vehicle fro
the dispersal area III at the east end of ? the runway to the take-off point
where they were parked aft of each other. The planes took off at about 17. =v.
at intervals of 140 seconds. At 11 a.m., two MiG-3.5s were towed by a fmo:n .
dispersal area I to the runway. At 11:145 a.m., another four i1Tic'T--15s took ol'f
while fair HiO-15s landed almost simultaneously. At noon, two t110-15s taa:ie:d
from a hangar to the east end of the runway and took off at 12:15 p.--.
9 September. No air activity.
10 September. There was intensive air activity by Mir-15s and t--e? wren
a?m T 6 3G p.m. Ten Mi 15s took off in elements c" two at 8 a.m. After
the take-off, the elements assembled in one formation. The formation flex
almost as far as the Ube River and there turned to the southeast. The rianos
flew in echelon to the right. At. 8;140 a.m., the planL;s approached -a.n clernertts
of two, frequently changing their course of flight, ar-are. tly to si.znusa .e
escaping AA fire. After 8:3G a.m., aircraft flying in elements of two firact
at air sleeves.
11. Se tember. Individual SAG-15s practiced local flying between 7:30 as'd 8: ].C~ a.m.
A 30 a.m., six ~ ..G-15s took off within 145 seconds, circled over the fie 'A
five times and' subsequently landed.
12t_13 and 14 September. No air activity.
15 September. Between 10:30 a.m. and 14 :30 p.m., individual were
aloft. Two aircraft practiced diving.
17 September. Twelve MIu-15s took off in elements of two within It mi.r sites

2:30 and 3 p.m., there was flying in formations of four MiG-,15s. The weather

19 September. After 1:30 p.m., MG-15s took off in for ations of 5 or 6
