Agriculture in East Germany has suffered considerably as a result of the spring,frost. The fruit crop, including the apple crop was frozen. `here are no early fruit,,early vegetables or early potatoes. The winter barley was also damaged as a result of frost. It will have to be used for f0dc er. 2._ The farmers have no seed left for new cultivation to replace their loss. The summer barley yield promioes to be very low. This extensive frost .damage extends almost to Berlin. In areas where there is much water, such as: the .area: around Luebben (N52/A28) and Luebbenau (N52/A27),are eppecially hard hit. The damage caused by the frost on 20 May 1952 is very high. The leaves of the deciduous trees have turned brown. The ashes have lost all their leaves.
