THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
The overall industrial, economy of Hungary was controlled by Section V of the
Ministry of the Interior. This section was established originally to control
production and general economic matters. Later, its functions included
the quantitative and qualitative control of all finished products. Under
this section, some 30 separate sub-sections co-operated closely with the
relevant ministry respons-ble for the industry concerned;
2. At the beginning of 1952, this section was withdrawn from the Ministry of
the Interior and became independent. A Soviet engineer, Vladimir Gorelkin,
took charge of it and, became Chief Commissar and the Head Adviser on
Hungarian industrial production matters. All the important sub-pections
and sub-groups of Gorelkin's office are now controlled by Soviet heads.
25X1 3. By order of the Council of Ministers, this former "Section V" was
specaI yyaauthorized to "carry out all measures to ensure that the
Hungarian industry fulfils its Five Year Plan".
