The 4 Division, IV Corps, North Korean Army, has been assigned to guard the coast line near Chinnamp?o (125-24,,38-44) (YC-0989) The 18 Regiment was the strongest regiment in the 4 Division. In May 1952, the 4 Division was commanded by Major General SONG Tok-nam (1345/1795/0589), who served with the Japanese army during World War II and later joined the Communist Party in China. 2. In late April 1952, the North Korean 4 Infantry Division, numbering approximately 15,000 men,, was near Tajong-ni (125-25, 39-01) (YD-0921)0 3. In late April., a 4 Division engineer battalion., numbering approximately 600 men, was near Imch'on (125-36, 39-08) (YD-2534). 4. In late April, approximately 1,500 men of the 4 Division, armed with 27 light machine guns,, were entrenched in the woods 50 meters northwest of Imch'on-ni (125-39, 38-24) (YC-3153)4 50 In early May, the 4 Division., numbering approximately 3,000 men, was near Yomjon-ni (125-25, 38-58) (YD.1516)o The 4 Division was equipped with 10 x 80-mm. mortars,' 5 x 60t-mm, mortars, 4 x 85-mmo infantry guns, 5 x 65-mm. guns, 6 x 20-mm< infantry guns, 22 heavy machine guns, 18 light machine guns, and- 300 radio sets (Bic).. Division were near Yonggeng-gun (12521, 38-46) (YC_o193)< They were egiipped with 7 x 80-mmb mortars.' 3 x 65-mm. infantry guns (sic), fifteen heavy machine guns, and 300 radio sets (sic). Approximately 250 men of the 1 Battalion, 8 Regiment, 1 Division, were near Yo-nan (126-10, 37-54) (BS-5198).1 They were equipped with 1 x 80-mma (sic) anti- aircraft gun, 2 x 60-mmo mortars, 3 x 1+0-mm. guns, and 10 light machine guns. 1.
