1. Since 26 January 1952, nine shuttle trains with empty
R and SS flatcars have been observed moving eastward through Frankfurt/Oder
bound for Brest-Litovsk. Up to 2 February, 284 cars of both types were
identified. There are no reports of boxcars being equipped as troop carriers.
Germany (Russian Zone)
There are three possible reasons for the movement of rolling stock.
a. Shipments of tanks from the USSR to the Soviet Zone; between 30 December
and 20 January, 57 tanks were transported westward via Frankfurt/Oder
directly to Soviet units.
b. Shipments of new trucks to the Soviet Zone; nearly 100 have been observed
to date.
c. Shipments of jet aircraft from the USSR to Koethen and Werder.
