NPIC HISTORICAL COLLECTION
1. This notice establishes the NPIC Historical Collection, effective
2 September 1969. This collection, consisting of information, documents
and memorabilia of all classifications relating to the history of the
Center, will be housed in the NPIC Library in a special room set aside for
that purpose. Physical control of the materials is vested in the Chief,
Research and Reference Division, Production Services Group.
2. The NPIC Historical Officer is named Curator of the collection.
Components and individuals will make available to the Center for possible
incorporation in the collection all materials of potential historical
significance. These materials will be screened by the Curator. Those
deemed suitable will be accepted and become a part of the collection.
Those briefing aids previously selected by the Director, NPIC, as having
some historical significance will serve as the nucleus for the NPIC His-
torical Collection.
3. Library services, such as classifying and cataloguing materials
in the collection as well as support in researching and exploiting the
holdings, will be supplied by the Research and Reference Division, PSG.
It will be the immediate responsibility of the Chief, Reference Services
Section, Information Branch, R&RD, to ensure that these services are
provided.
4. Access to the Historical Collection for those properly cleared
and having a serious purpose in consulting it can be arranged through the
Curator or the Chief, Information Branch, R&RD. The collection will not
be open for casual inspection.
