THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION FOR THE RESEARCH USE OF TRAINED INTELLIGENCE ANALYSTS 1. In the runner of 1947 Ivan B(1DIZSAR wwa appointed Under-Secretary of State in the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Immediately after his appoint- ment he was invited by the Minister of Foreigmt Affairs and the Chief of the 3 Political Police to submit a project for establishing abroad a Hungarian agency to make propaganda and procure political information. To implement this project BOLDI ZSAR was then authorized to set up Hungarian Offices of information and Press-Documentation within the Hungarian Legations to several Western I .ropean oountries0 2a The principal objectives assigned to those agencies were the followings ai.) To foster b) To prevent Hungary a pro-Hungarian propaganda in the respective countriaai all propaganda against the present political regime in o) To procure political information for the Government, as well as for the security authorities. 3a It was adopted as a basic principle that the staff of the offices should be recruited from reliable Hungarians living for a long time abroad a ands 't'hus, having the necessary contacts in the respective countries.
