25X1 On 7 January 1952, Soviet purchasing engineer Palilov called at Zeiss: Jena,
to inquire about the possibility of buying two Delta-type tachymeter-theodolites,
stating that he needed them urgently. Be was told that Zeiss was just beginning
to set up production of these instruments, and that he could not expect delivery
until early 1953. He was promised the first two instruments produced. Palilov
stated that the official confirmation for this order would follow in writing.
The cost price of these instruments will probably be about 4,000 Dpi each.
Comments Since Palilov is the saw engineer who concerns himself with
the pro notion of fine nickel wire screen in the DDR, it would seen reasonable
to suspect that the above instruments we being purchased for the Soviet
atomic energy authorities also.
