4.1 Met with Senator Leverett Saltonstall
and his son, William, and-,made final arrangements for the Senator's
visit to the Agency for luncheon with the Director on Wednesday at 12:30.
5.1 1 Met with Mr. Harry Nicholas, Administra-
tive Assistant to Representative Barber Conable (R. , N. Y. ), in response
to his request for advice concerning constituent inquiries on the Agency/MSU
question. After discussion, it was suggested that the information set forth
in Senator Saltonstall's floor statement of April 18 might be quoted in
response to the queries. Mr. Nicholas appreciated the Agency's assistance
in this matter.
6. Met with Mr. Phil Kelleher, House Armed
Services Committee, who questioned the fact that the Committee had not
been alerted to the Moscow ABM deployment, which has been given very
heavy press play by Mr. McNamara. I advised that I did not know of any
change in the situation from our previous briefings but that I would be
pleased to pass his question on.
