All 500-kv switching equipment for this powerline appears to have been installed in the substation. There are faint indications that conductors may also have been strung. This powerline will provide backup power to the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk power grids of the Unified Power System of the USSR and to the Ural atomic energy installations, especially to the isotope separation facilities in the Verkh-Neyvinskiy Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
