Shipyards and repair facilities are situated on both sides of the Huang-p'u Chiang as shown on the accompanying map. This report, based on aerial photography of Shanghai, shows the location of all the major shipyards in the city and includes a brief description of graving docks and shipbuilding ways at each. Chang-hua Pang Dockyard. One graving dock, 300' long. Two marine railways, 200' and 170' long. 2. Chung-hua (Point Island) Shipyard. Six marine railways: three 330', two 270', and one 220' long. 3. Hua-tung (Moller's) Shipyard. Three shipbuilding ways, each 900' long. Ships are launched by means of a transverse launching way, which can accommodate ships up to 300' in length. Two marine railways, 250' and 150' long. 4. International Dockyard. One graving dock, 540' long. Six shipbuilding ways, each 250' long. Launching is by means of a transverse launching way which can accommodate ships up to 180' in length. 5. Shanghai (Yangtszepoo) Dockyard. Two graving docks, 660' and 390' long. One marine railway, 230' long. 6. P'u-tung Shipyard. One side-haul marine railway, which can accommodate ships up to 240' in length. This side-haul marine railway extends inland a distance of 290'. One marine railway (end-haul), 300' long. 7. Tung-Chia-t'u Dockyard. One graving dock, 390' long. :3. Ch'iu-hsin (Kiousin) Shipyard. One graving dock, 290' long. Two possible marine railways, 170' and 140' long. Ping-an Dockyard. One graving dock, 270' long. Three marine railways, each 170' long. 10. Kiang-nan Naval Shipyard. Three graving docks, 630', 555', and 520' long. Six shipbuilding ways: five 350' and one 440' long. Two marine railways, 360' and 260' long. 11. Huang-tsu Boatyard. Eleven marine railways: two 300', three 275', and six 160' long.
