Director of the Center for National Security Studies, and John Marks, who is a former staff assistant 'to the Director of the State Department Bureau of Intelligence, and co-author, along with Victor Marchetti, who was on our program some.. time ago, of the bestselling book, "The CIA. and the Cult of Intelligence." Welcome, gentlemen. Tom Ross, who's the bureau chief of the Chicago Sun-Times, is supposed to be here as well and he might be along very, very soon. Congratulations on the book, John. It's done extremely .well., hasn't it? JOHN MARKS: We're very happy. The U.S. Government actually has guaranteed us a bestseller by trying to suppress us. It does wonders for book sales. You went to court with them, right? MARKS: Well, they took us to court, and then we went back to court with them. But this is the first book that the U.S. Government has ever tried to censor in American history, we think, and we actually had to publish our first edition with blank spaces in pl ace of the words that they insisted ~iere going to hurt the national security.
