THE SUPER SPIES: More Secret, More Powerful Than the GA
by Andrew Tully
Here is the headline-making, inside story of the American spy agencies that
only the highest government officials know about. More powerful and more
secret than the CIA, these agencies plant spies in Red China, Russia and
among neutral and friendly nations and operate a network of electronic
snooping devices in outer space and on land and sea. The biggest and most
secret is the National Security Agency (NSA) whose specialty is electronic
spying and cryptography. Also revealed are the inner workings of the Defense
Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the intelligence branch of the State Depart-'
ment (INR). The Super Spies tells how these secret agencies learned about
the invasion of Czechoslovakia before it occurred and what happened when
the U.S. tried to stop the Russians. Also told is the story behind the mission
of the Pueblo and much more.
Andrew Tully, who resides in Washington, D.C., is the author of the best-
seller CIA: The Inside Story and the popular syndicated column 'National;
