TIME CORRECTION INFORMATION FOR SELECTED TALENT MISSIONS
GENERAL
The purpose of this Technical Publication is to establish corrected
time information for selected TALENT missions, primarily those flown
over Sino-Soviet Bloc territories. * By using this information, an analyst
can determine Greenwich (Z) time of any photographic frame (exposure).
The accompanying Time Correction Table provides correction factors
which can be readily used to convert the clock time of a desired photo-
graphic frame to Greenwich time. The table has been arranged by mission
number, regardless of letter designator or mission date. Time corrections
are indicated by a plus or minus sign followed by four digits, the first two
digits designating hours and the last two designating minutes. To retain
consistency in tabulation, four zeroes are used to indicate that clock time
on certain missions is correct.
EXAMPLES
Two examples will suffice to illustrate use of the Time Correction
Table:
1. An analyst needs the correct exposure time of Frame 359, Cam-
era 6, Mission B 4048, dated 21 August 1957. The time shown on the clock
of Frame 359 is 0500. The Time Correction Table shows that Mission
B 4048 has a correction factor of -00 Ol. Therefore, the corrected Green-
wich time for Frame 359 is 0500 minus one minute, or 04592.
2. The correct exposure time is desired for Frame 405, Camera 7,
Mission C 6011, dated 1 March 1958. The time shown on the clock of
Frame 405 is 1222. The Time Correction Table shows that Mission C 6011
has a correction factor of + 02 58. Therefore, the corrected Greenwich
time for Frame 405 is 1222 plus 2 hours and 58 minutes, or 15202.
*Corrected time information for other TALENT missions has not been compiled. However, such infor-
mation can be obtained on an individual mission basis upon request.
