"OPERATIONS"
MISSION:
a. Upon receipt of an order of execution, deploy personnel
and equipFrrent as outlined in this Operations Plan to a designated
Advance Base, for approximately 30 days,
b. Arrange for dispatch of one U-2 aircraft from Atsugi
Naval Air Station to Advance Base, after Task Force is in place at
Advance Base.
2. AIRCRAFT DEPLOYMENT:
a. Ferry flight of U-2 aircraft will be planned to avoid
USSR or Chinese Communist radar nets. Flight plan will insure landing
fuel reserve of at least 100 gallons.
3. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
a. After arrival at advance base, prepare operations facil-
ities for subsequent overflight activities.
b. U-2 aircraft ferry configuration:
(1) Take-off fuel; 1335 gallons
(2) Take-off weight; 19,665 pounds

(3) Minimum fuel reserve:
(a) Maximum altitude: 100 gallons. Ferry mission
will be flown at maximum altitude to avoid radar detection.
Pre-computed celestial observations for speed and course line will
be used.
c. Normal Air/Sea rescue procedures apply.
d. No special aircraft radio channelization will be required.
e. Aircraft will launch from Atsugi Naval Air Station on a
FEAF Tactical Clearance. No 1117511 clearance will be filed.
f. Standard emergency procedures will apply.
g. Emergency bases enroute:
(1) As briefed, dependent on mission routee
h. Task Force Operations Personnel:
(1) Flight Commander
(2) Navigation Officer
(3) Weather Officer
(4) Intelligence Officer
(5) Photo Interpreter
(6) Operations Clerk
(7) Two U-2 pilots (one pilot to ferry U-2; backup
pilot deploys in support aircraft)
4. TASK FORCE OPERATIONS EQUIPMENT:
a. Operations staging kit, to include all necessary maps,

logs, escape and evasion currency, references and supplies will be
deployed. For list of equipment to be deployed, see Appendix 2,
Annex agn.
b. Intelligence will have the capability to score 70MM
tracker film, and prepare required mission overlays.

"LOGISTICS"
1. SPLY
a. Sufficient fuel LF-lA in barrels should be prepositioned
at Advance Base.
b. Aircraft spares will be withdrawn from Fly Away Kit of
Weather Reconnaissance Squadron Provisional, 3RB, at Atsugi NAS and
moved to Advance Base by support aircraft. (Appendix 1).
c. Equipment to support 30 days operation at Advance Base
(less items furnished by Base Commander) will be moved from Atsugi NAS
to Advance Base by support aircraft. (Appendix 2).
d. Messing and housing will be provided by Commander, Advance
e. Commander, Advance Base, will provide normal supply support
of standard Air Force items if required. It is anticipated that Task
Force will be self sufficient.
2. TRANSPORTATION:
a. Far East Air Force will provide airlift from Atsugi NAS to

Advance Base, for Task Force personnel, equipment and supplies. Airlift
will be requested by Project Headquarters.
b. Surface transportation at Advance Base will be provided
by Commander, Advance Base. Surface transportation requirements are
listed in Appendix 3.
3. SERVICE:
a. Medical:
(1) Commander, Advance Base will provide personnel
medical and hospital facilities if needed.
b, Maintenance:
(1) Hangar space for one U-2 aircraft will be provided
by Commander, Advance Base.
(2) Electrical ;support Equipment (MA-2), necessary
power and miscellaneous maintenance equipment (standard Air Force items),
maintenance shop facilities and minor facility modification will be the
responsibility of Commander, Advance Base.
(3) Commander, Advance Base will provide necessary ground
handling equipment and personnel support (if required) to load and
unload support aircraft at Advance Base.
c. Finance:
(1) Finance matters to include advance per diem payment
will be as directed by Commander, WRSP-3.

4. PERSONNEL:
a. Personnel requirements for the Task Force listed in
Appendix 4.
b. Replacement personnel or additional personnel will be
provided from resources of WRSP-3.
c. No classification, reassignment, or transfer of personnel
will be accomplished during staging period. No leaves or passes will
be granted to personnel of Task Force during staging period.
d. No mail will be mailed by individuals from the staging
base. All mail will be given to the Task Force Security Officer at
Advance Base who will air mail it to Post Office Box 500, North
Hollywood, California. Mail will then be postmarked at North Hollywood
and sent to addressee. Mail incoming to Task Force personnel from the
Zone of Interior will be packaged at Atsugi NAB, Japan, and remailed to
Advance Base.
5. MISCELLANEOUS:
a. Headquarters of WRSSP-3 will remain at Atsugi NAS, Japan.
