JOINT MISSION COVERAGE SUMMARY
Mission C 6011
1"March 1958
Mission C 6011, flown 1 March 1958, covers military areas
and extensive storage facilities along the Trans-Siberian Railroad
and its branches in the heart of the Soviet Far East. Coverage in-
cludes Sovetskaya Gavan', a supply port for the Northern Sea Route,
the cities of Khabarovsk and Komsomol'sk with their communications
and industries, Kuybyshevka - Vostochnaya and its associated air-
field activity, and the defenses of this entire area of rapid growth.
The Trans-Siberian Railroad is covered from Svobodnyy to Birobidzhan,
and around Khabarovsk. The Khabarovsk - Nikolayevsk rail line is
covered north and south of Komsomol'sk.
Quality of the coverage is mostly good. However, there were
scattered clouds in the vicinity of Sovetskaya Gav.an',exposures 1-30,
and the coast to the south was completely obscured by clouds. The
remainder of the mission was flown in clear weather until the southern
outskirts of Khabarovsk were reached. Here clouds were encountered
from about exposure 650 onward.
There was complete malfunction of camera 1 throughout the
flight.
