Talked with Mr. Pat Holt
Senate

Foreign Relations Committee staff, concerning the briefing of the
Subcommittee on American Republics Affairs scheduled for 3:30
Monday afternoon. I told Mr. Holt that I am now advised that the
presentation by Mr. Robert Sayre, Deputy Assistant Secretary of
State for Latin American Affairs, and the presentation by Mr. R.
Jack Smith, our DD/I, will be separate and noted that they are
both scheduled for appearance for 3:30. Mr. Holt advised that it
is the Chairman's desire that each be present while the other is
testifying.
I also confirmed with Mr. Holt, the security arrangements
for Monday. We will provide a physical check of the room in
advance of the hearing but will not monitor the hearing itself or
provide anyone for the door.
