5. Talked with William Darden, Senate Armed
Services Committee staff, indicating our availability for any assist::. ice which
might be desired in connection with the subject of the McCarthy- resolution
which, we understand, is to be brought up on the Senate floor within the
next week to ten days. I specifically asked Darden if he should des --re
anything from the Director clarifying the situation with respect to l is
declination to answer certain questions during his briefing of the F,.reign
Relations Committee this passed February. I reviewed this situation with
Darden who said he felt he had sufficient information on the subject. I also
mentioned that Senator Symington, who was present at the time, al.:o had
material on this.
