The 'w'riter has some reason to question whether Mr.
Imbry Nay was actual: !,T executed as reported bar the Comn-
numists in the Budaptest press.
This was perhaps more validly the request of a citizen
for information when it was as. emotional and vocal issue
here recently in a senatorial election contest; at that ti-:.e
the local F. B. I. office w, as ap avently in no position to
pro* de any help on the question.
..evertheless, the -Triter is still curicus about the atter,
and since we still presumably have a democracy in -hi_ch the
average citizen is called upon to make intelligent voting de-
cisions in such situations, aa-,x hopeful that you not only have,

was ex cuted, probably on Russian orders, by the Com-
Munists his past June, as announced by theme lungarian
Communist ress. We wish to advise you that reports
from &meri n observers in Hungary, both official and
unofficial,pport the conclusion.

lengths to justify is act of'legal murder, the longest
and most thorough bei g a White Book on the conspiracy
of Imre Nagy and his g up. T~iis book alone-makes it
clear that the announceno t of his execution was in-
tended as a dramatic warni to communist leaders that
any attempt to liber'.ize a ommunist regime--as Imre
Nagy tried to do f 1953 up hrough the 1956 revolt--
must necessarily~be deemed as t ason to international
Communism. Th ss, we believe it i extremely unlikely
that the comminists would have anno ced the Nagy
execution wt;th full understanding of a international
outcry this act would cause, unless inde d the execution
had been carried out.
