i~ The Bau Union. Spree VEB is building a barracks installation south of the
Straust:erg railroad station.. The installation is earmarked for use by a
guard regiment of the State Security Service (Sf5). Construction work
was controlled by a. construction staff of the SfS. This staff issued
passes to -all workers employed at the construction sight; these passes
are stamped " Baustab , WR 110/53". F the Sf5 construction
staff included one Erwin Amtor., construction supervisor' and Emil Paukwitz,
The construction staff of the Bau Union -Spree is located in temporary buil-
dings in the southeastern corner of the construction sight. The following
numbers of construction workers were employed on the days. .iientioneds

f. Guard house, completed, finishing work was still going on,

h. Quarantine station, the framework of the building was completedd

capacity of 3,000 men and will be designed for the quartering of 12 con -,
panies. Each of the quartering build:int;s will contain eight dormitories
for 50 men each, The construction sitrht was off limits and guarded by bout
20 VPs who wore blue uniforms. At daarl ess, the guards have orders to fire
at any person who the s not stop when ,-he hanged.
5. On 15 September, main construction supervisor Bahlke (fnu), of Bau Una;.on
Spree announced that the barracks Installation south of Straust;erg was to
be ready for occupation by the KVP on 33. January 1954.3
