1. Your assistance is requested in obtaining a
prompt response to the questions presented to William
Draper on 7 July 1981.
2. The urgency was emphasized by the Chairman of
the Fine Arts Commission at the 10 August meeting.
3. Conservationists who have been contacted for
the purpose of proposing restoration procedures cannot
accurately estimate costs and work without this infor-
mation.

The Agency has consultants on board examining our portrait
problems that were mentioned in our letter of 14 May 1981. We
have been asked to obtain answers to the following questions:
1. Kind of varnish used by Mr. Draper:
In 1973.
In 1966
In 1957
2. Is it Demar?
3. What proportion of turpentine?
4. Any other resin?
5- HOW soon after completing painting is varnish applied?
6. Do you mix acrylic and oil paint?

appreciated.
