His request came after preliminary court rul- ings favorable to Kennecott Copper Corporation. Two shiploads of copper from the nationalized El Teniente mine, which were destined for Swedish firms, have been diverted, but a token shipment has been de- livered and payment deposited with the court to test the ruling. The Swedish Government is unlikely to challenge the courts. Sweden, having designated Chile a "pro- gressive country" to be favored by foreign aid pol- icy, will probably not buy the copper, but will un- doubtedly try to find some other way to assist Al- lende, possibly through additional financial aid. Thus far the Kennecott campaign has had no ap- preciable effect on the world market price of copper, due to large existing stockpiles. However, European buyers are awaiting final court decisions before they commit themselves to new Chilean contracts. 11 Nov 72 Central Intelligence Bulletin Approved For Release 2003/08/05 : CIA-RDP79T00975A02320001 X002-1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 2003/08/05 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO23200010002-1 Next 4 Page(s) In Document Exempt Approved For Release 2003/08/05 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO23200010002-1 25X1 ToOpa7rufflor Release 2003/08/05 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO23200010002-1 Top Secret Approved For Release 2003/08/05 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO23200010002-1
