Approved For Release 2001/08/09 : CIA-RDP87-0113OR000200130001-4 FOUR SEASONS GARDEN CLUB Thursday, 1 August 1980, 1220 hours, Cafeteria Present Rod Patricia Jane Tom Phil (TREASURER) arlas (Chuck) .......2D4908 STATINTL 6D30 5085 5B4806 1H39 2D26 2E06 (This was a spontaneous meeting of miscellaneous interested people. Ommission of any other personnel with interest in the Four Seasons Garden Club was not intentional.) At the invitation of Phil (ex-Treasurer of the Four Seasons Garden Club), the above people ate lunch together in the cafeteria and discussed possibilities of reviving the defunct "Four Seasons Garden Club." Ways of stimulating Club interest included: meetings with speakers on topics such' as herbs, hydroponic: gardening, methods of drying fruits and participation with the Exterior Committee of the Fine Arts Committee in beautifying CIA grounds. Chuck of the Fine Arts Committee suggested that since [ Ir. Carlucci .(DDCIA) and Mr. Don Wortman (DDA) have expressed keen interest -in a "PAR" (a phys ed trail/running path with programmed exercise stops) it might be worth the Club's interest to look at the PAR as a way of accomplish-- ing such enjoyable projects as a "Wilderness Trail/Pathway" through CIA grounds. Garden enthusiasts could take interest (planing flowers) along a woodland path creating a nature trail used by employees to shake tension and to relax. The concept of a PAR is currently at the OGC level and includes consideration of CIA property, areas outside the fence and part of Turkey [dun. Those present thought the idea of a Wilderness Trail could generate -interest within the Club. The group went on a short inspection tour of an existing overgrown -woodland path diagonally across from the southeast entrance. At one time -the Club had planted narcissus and daffodils on the hill side along the -path. The path was strewn with logs, brush and was overgrown with weeds. This )run-down path area certainly has possibilities as a very.-accessible lovely natural area offering respite from office tensions. It would be necessary for GSA maintenance to provide heavy ground work to wip the place back into shape. Chuck said the National Park Service could be a source of Spring bulbs should the Club elect to actively participate with the Exterior Committee of the Fine Arts Committee in beaufifying CIA grounds. One double wooden bench in fairly good condition remains on the overgrown path. The group parted with the intention of holding a business meeting in the near future in one of the small first floor theatres to determine the Club's future and consensus of interest. Phil will inform -people of the next meeting. Phil stated the Club treasury has $222.51 in the bank. Phil of the EAA said EAA could provide Club publicity and relieve members of some of the other administrative `cork. A review of the Club's book collection indicates bonly three of an indexed vicbook collection remains. Pesha s1/08/09 : IA R6P87- 8' 130R0602 6f 0bfj.ed in an office vce the library.%tFg g4.
