MEMORANDUM FOR: Director, Central Reference Service
SUBJECT : Director's Congressional Testimony under
Data Control
1. For some time the Office of Legislative Counsel has had
under consideration a plan to place the Director's congressional
testimony under automatic data control so that the information
would be retrievable through the Rapid Search Machine System.
We are requesting your assistance to initiate this procedure and
continue it on a regular basis.
2. Support Services Division, Intelligence
Applications Branch as provided assistance and recommendations
for our study. A test tape has been made which has convinced us
that our objectives can be effectively realized by the RSM System.
Our objectives are to make it possible for the Director, this office,
or other Agency officers to retrieve exactly what was presented to
a congressional committee on a given subject.
3. I ladvises that since a successful test tape has
already been made, no programming will be required to initiate
this procedure. We will be happy to work with Ion further
details.
