Approved For Release 2005/07/22 : CIA-RDP80BO1495R000500030001-6 OLC 73-1432/A 27 DEC Honorable Lucien N. Nedzi House of Representatives Washington, D. C. 20315 !)I- A6S? -7, Dear Mr. Nedzi: Thank you for your letter of 6 December with its attachment describing Wayne State Tlniversity's proposals concerning applications of computational linguistics to Slavic languages. I have passed on these materials to my colleagues in charge of Agency Slavic language research and translation, and have been assured that they will expeditiously let me know how Wayne State's work might relate to their own on-going research programs along similar lines. As soon as the results of this review are available., I will pass them on to Professor Edmund Ordon at Wayne State. I will suggest to Professor Ordon that, if he has not already done so, he may contact the Office of Research and Development at Rome Air Development Center, Griffis Air Force Base, Rome, Now York. It is my understanding that that Office is heavily involved in Russian language research and translation, and has had continued interest in the work of U. S. universities along these lines. Thank you for bringing this unique research effort to the attention of the Agency. rely, ST AT Distribution: Original - Addressee Acting Le StalbJen, I - OLC Chrara Approved For Release 2005/07/22 : CIA-RDP80BO1495R000500030001-6
