6 August 1975
I will be wrapping up my work here in the course of August.
I did not want to leave without expressing personal appreciation
for your support and help over the years. This support has been
provided by all DDI elements, among whom I have many personal
friends as well as working associations. Leaving the competence
and dedication of such people made my decision very hard indeed.
While the current inquiries will no doubt have material
impact on other parts of CIA and the DCI's own role in the
Community, it must give you and other DDI leaders some quiet
satisfaction that your part of the Agency mission grows in
importance and prestige and truly represents the critical
contribution to U. S. security. I have always happily considered
myself an alumnus of DDI and go away now very proud of the high
order of professionalism and service DDI people render.
Warmest personal regards,
25X1
