SUBJECT: USIB File and Program Catalog System (FPCS)
REFERENCE: CODIB-D-111/l.9/8 of 6 October 1966
1. Paragraph 3 of reference stated that CODIB Support Staff
would attempt to arrange distribution of DIA's file and program
catalogs to assist CODIB members in establishing the format and
distribution requirements of the USIB FPCS catalogs. The size of
the DIA catalogs (665 pages for the program catalog and 383 pages
for the file catalog) has. made this approach impractical. Con-
sequently, it has been decided to distribute only a sample page
from each catalog_ together with extracts from DIA's system output
specifications. A copy of each Secret level file and program
catalog is on file in the CODI3 Support staff.,
2. Attachments 1 and 3 a :re sample pages from DIA's.Secret
level file and program catalogs, respectively. Attachments 2 and
4 are simplified diagram of 1; she file and program output formats,
respectively. Attachment 5 contains extracts from DIA's FPCS out-
put specifications.
3. It is requested that: the attachments be reviewed to
determine whether the output formats now being used by DIA to
produce the DoD catalogs are satisfactory for the USIB FPCS
catalogs. Your comments regarding the acceptability of these
formats should be forwarded to the CODIB Support Staff no later
than -21 December 1966. Preliminary indications of the desired
distribution of the USIB FPCS catalogs should also be provided at
this time.
4. The FPCS Reporting Manual is now at the printers. Each
agency is requested to notify the CODIB Support Staff (Code 143,
