The following is a chronology
of the outbreak of the current
fighting in the Middle East yes-
terday, according to information
given by Secretary General
Thant of the United Nations at
-the Security Council session or
reported from the fighting areas
by news corerspondents.
Mr. Thant cautioned that "of
course United Nations sources
have no, means of ascertaining
how the fighting started." He
noted also that much of the in-
formation forwarded by the
commander of the United Na-
tions , Emergency Force had
been provided by the United
Arab Republic's liaison service
in Gaza.
All times, are local Middle
Eastern time. Israel is six hours
ahead of New York, and the
