4.1 Met with Mr. William Darden, Se.iate
Armed Services Committee staff, and left with him, in Senator RusE-ell's
absence, the Director's letter to Senator Fulbright responding to the
Senator's query concerning the question of a Foreign Relations Com;-izittee
subcommittee on CIA. Mr. Darden called later after meeting with
Senator Russell and suggested a technical word change.
5. Delivered the Director's letter responding j
to Senator Fulbright's query of 13 June concerning a possible CIA sun-- t/
committee of Senate Foreign Relations to Senator Fulbright. Although the
Senator read the letter very carefully, he made no comment on it.
6. Met with Mr. Carl Marcy, Staff Director,
Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and provided him with copies .>f the
Director's response to Senator Fulbright's letter of 13 June. See Mi:raoran-
dum for the Record.
