Request to Attend Agency Seminar and Annual Conference of Association for Asian Studies 1. Since November I have been working with the Coordinator for Academic Relations on the Agency sponsored seminar which is now being planned for the two days prior to the opening of the annual conference of the Association for Asian Studies. I request permission to take part in this seminar and to attend the conference. 2. Both at the Conference and in the off-the-record seminar discussions, I will not discuss classified in- formation nor will I touch on any aspect of U.S. policy. As in earlier professional association activities, I will be identified at this conference as an employee of CIA. I am a member of the Association for Asian Studies. Special events currently planned include a cocktail-reception. at the Asian Art 'Museum (Brundage Collection) in Golden, Gate Park on Tuesday, March 25th. This event, made possible by the generous assistance of the Asian Art Commission, The Asia Foundation, the University of San Francisco, and various Asian-American organizations in the San Francisco Bay area, will be held in conjunction with a special Southeast Asia art exhibit at the museum..- On Sunday, March 23rd, there also will be a South Indian and Southeast Asian? (Indonesian gamelan) nusic and dance performance arranged. by the Center for World Music and Related :._ Arts of the American Society for Eastern Arts.
