Thank you very much for your letter of 12 November, advising that the Survey Group will be in Washington on 22 and 23 November and will be available for any suggestions or reoo- mendationa which the Central Intelligence Agency may wish to aako. T& have discussed this question with all of our people, and we feel that there are no suggestions or recommendations that the Central Intelligence Agency wishes to make. Hcwever, if the Survey Group desires to ask any questions or to receive further clarification on any points, any or all of us will be sat happy to appear before the Survey Group at the convenience of the Survey Group. The Intelligence Survey Group, appointed pursuant to recom- mendation of the National Security Council to the President under date of January 13, 1948, will shortly be concluding its assigned task, namely, to make "a comprehensive, impartial and objective survey of the organization) activities and personnel of the Central Intelligence Agency," as well as an "examination of such intelligence activities of other Government departments and agencies as relate to the national security". Before concluding its report, the Survey Group will welcome the opportunity, if you so desire, to meet with you and with any person in your organization you may wish to designate in order that it may obtain the benefit of any suggestions and recommenda- tions which you may wish to make. The Survey Group would also be glad to receive, if you so desire, any written memoranda which you may wish to submit on or before November 25, 1948. The Survey Group will be in Washington on November 22 and 23 and will be glad to fix a time on these days agreeable to you for such a meeting.
