1. Mr. - stated that Voice of America officials
had requested permission to use the Director's letter of 4 January 1950
addressed to Mr. Howland H. Sargeant, Deputy Assistant Secretary of
State for Public Affairs, concerning Russian jamming of Voice of
America activities, and OSI report 1-50 which was attached thereto,
in support of Voice of America appearances before the House and
Senate Appropriations Committees. In addition VOA requests that a
technical expert be made available by us for the answering of
technical questions in this field before the Committees.
2. In connection with Journal Entry No. 1 of 16
January, Colonel Edwards and I discussed with the Director recommen-
dations for action to be taken in accordance with Colonel Edwards'
memo. The Director will consider what action he wishes to take.
