1 On 24 April 1953, the I-indeenburg Kaserne in Plauen was occupied by ablaut 2.500 troops
Sentries wore black-bordered crimson epaulets or red-bordered black epaulets. There
was still intensive training activity in the barracks yard and on the Kobitzachwalde
training grounds. At about 3 p.m. on 21 .April, 400 troops wearing black-bordered crimson
epaulets and carrying light machine lens.. and machine guns and 50 men carrying gas
masks entered the barracks installation, coming from the Kobitzschwalde drill grounds.

2, On 25 April, the Koenig Georg Kasernb was occupied to capacity by 19000 to 4500
troops who wore red-bordered black epaulets,, including some with artillery insignia
and a few with motor transport insignia. There was intensive training activity. At
about 11 a.m. on 24 April,, troops practiced with 2 x 5`. mm AT guns in the yard. On 21
April, 50 troops 'wearing, red-bordered black epaulets and carrying field teie shonos
and entrenching tools entered the installation,, coming from the drill grounds
3. On 7 April, the hospital. quartered 200 to ilk) troops who wore black-bordered crimson
25X1 epaulets and red-bordered black epaulets. the soldiers
there were convalescents who performed light duty. About, 200 soldiers were regularly
seen leaving for the Kobitsschwalde drill grounds,, equipped with rifles and practice
targets.
On 25 April, the Kirchbach Kaserne was occupied by 200 to 300 troops. Sentries wore
red-bordered black epaulets,, including some with artillery and signal insignia. On
6 April, about 80 men engaged in drill and received instruction on the sand table in
the rear section of the barracks yard. A radio truck was still seen there, The roof
of the damaged quarters facing Zwoschwitz was under repair. A large classroom was
situated in the basement of this building.
5. After 10 April, the radio station on the former airfield near Plauen was no longer
operation.
Between 1? and 20 April, the strength of troops in Plauen military post remained the
same. No signs indicated that the troops were soon to leave for a siren er a. On
17 april, 4 x 122-am field howitzers mounting troops with red-bordered black cpau:i etc
and gas masks left the installation. Between 11 and 29 March, soldiers in the Hinden-
burg Kaserne were repeatedly seen at training with 2 AA machine guns. The practiced
