This is a brief report on the progress of the Study
25X1
Group. We spent a very interesting

been well organized under
direction. We heard not 25X1
only from all of the people associated with the embassy, but also 25X1
from representatives of the commands.
We were, and I should add that I personally am,
concerned about the intelligence support to EUCOM. At the 25X1
present time they receive plus
some representative material sent to l for the attention of
EUCOM. Strictly from a public relations point of view, the agency
could benefit greatly if a set-up similar to CINCPAC were arranged
for EUCOM and it could be done without any additional personnel
From the point of view of the business, I am
surprise at EUCOM has not insisted on receiving our take from
all other countries under their cognizance. As I cabled yester-
day, I recommend that this receive our earnest consideration.
One other subject that has concerned us is not only
the lack of counterintelligence information reaching the appropriate
people, but an almost indifference to this subject. We also plan
to look much more fully at the SSO system upon our return as this
seems to out across many party lines, without any appreciable
benefit.
