~ot Aspern airfield is still occupied by one fighter regiment. The
reduced occupation of the billets at tis ern and Gross Enzersdorf and the am&.l
number of Pe-2s indicate that the bomber regiment previously stationed at the
field was transferred. It is probable that the bomber regiment stationed at
Deutsch Wagram since larch 1953 had arrived from Asperri.
2, I LQQ etit2 The flying activities by the jet fighter units stationed at Aspern,
Parndorf and Wiener Neustadt airfields included formation flying up. to squadron
formation. night flying, firing at ground and air targets as well as bad weather
flying. It is assumed that fighter escorting has been practiced with bomber touts,
especially with the 11-28 bomber unit stationed at Wiener Neustadt.
