C. 20 January 1955 Mr. Allen W. Dulles, Director of Central Intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency, Washington 25, D. C. General Mark W. Clark has asked me to convey to you the following request for clearance of individual Members of this Task Force and its staff: Mr. Henry Kearns (Member of the Task Force) Colonel Charles C. Blakeney, U. S. Army, Retired, kStaff Member) These two men are members of a group of three that the Task Force is sending to observe activities of an intelligence nature in the Pacific Ocean area. It is requested that they be cleared to receive information concerning and to have access to CIA activities, both overt and covert. The departure date for this group is tentatively scheduled on or about 5 February 1955. General Clark also stated that he desires the same clearance for all other Members of the Task Force and for Major General James G. Christiansen, U. S. Army, Retired. Such clearance is needed by the Task Force Members because in their consideration of the problem confronting the, it is essential that they consider all the facts in arriving at any conclusions or recommendations they may desire to make to the Hoover Commission. If this is not done, a fully considered report is impossible. The clearance is needed for Major General Christiansen, Staff Director of the Task Force, in order that he may assist in preparation of all phases of the report of the Task Force. Sincerely, J.G. Christiansen Staff Director Approved For Release 2002/05/02 : CIA-RDP86B00269R000100130133-9
