Pete Brandt, St. Louis POST DISPATCH, has a message from his office
telling him to get in touch with General Clark and ask clarification of
Clarkts statement to the effect that he, Clark, would get rid of subversives
in CIA. The St. Louis POST DISPATCH on Sunday, Pete said, carried the HERALD
TRIBUNE story. He also said that the memorandum states that there is an anti-
McCarthy Task Force and that Roscoe Drummond is a member of such task force.
I told him this was certainly news to me and had nothing to do with us, and wo
know nothing about it.
He also stated that the Hoover Commission usually works with an advisory
committee as well as with the task force and that he will ask Clark, if he can
locate him, who will be the members of his advisory committee. He also plans
to telephone Lawrence Richey to ask him if any recommendations by General
Clark of task force members have been approved by Mr. Hoover. Pete said he 25X1A
had never heard of the Roscoe Drummond task force previously.
