three new ships were brought in
for repairs. They are the USSR passenger ship 1Kronstad(1500 tons), and the two
freighters ttSmolenskt (900 tons) and UURovototi (800 tons). The passenger ship will get
a-general overhauling; it will be converted from coal-fired to oil-fired. In addition,
new steel plates will be installed on the port bow. The ship is a two-master,
42 meters long and iftambm has a beam of 12 meters. The cabins ( 18 first class, 20
second class, and 26 third class) are below deck. The ship was towed in at 1100 hours
on 21 October 1951. The repairs will take about 8 weeks.
There is no information on the other two ships since no work has yet begun on them.
They arrived on 28 October and 6 November 1951.
The shipyard cannot complain about material shortage since enough material is on
hand from salvaged wrecks. There are about 750 men now employed at the shipyard.
