1. As mentioned in referenced memoranda, personnel of
your Operations Center and the Joint Reconnaissance Center
have been investigating means for providing a timely secure
communications capability between the two centers.
2. It is believed that the installation of a secure
telephone drop on the Central Intelligence Agency "Red
Telephone" system will provide the required capability.
The present teletype system will be required for transmis-
sion of detailed data for record.
3. 1 recommend that action be taken to allocate a drop
on the CIA Secure Telephone Net to the joint Reconnaissance
Center.

1. This Agency is conducting a review of the e,estion of
secure telephone coilaxxiuntcations from the new heedquartirs
building in Langley, Virginia, to other departments and
agencies in Washington. A link between the DP D operations
center and the Joint Reconnaissance Center is one of those
under consideration, =gut the question is not likely to be re-
solved until the Agency's operatic center has actually
roved to Langley.
. In the meantime, secure telephone communications,
h 'the KY-1 and KY-il systems, sat '3etween various
Ices and offices in the Department of Defense.
ampllo. there is a KY-1 link between DPD and the office
r Special Assistant for Projects, the Inspector General,
United States Air Force. Our personnel have been instructed
