ABSTRACT: One of the chief problems in integrating the human operator into the
control of semiautomatic systems lies in the area of rare efficient transmission
of inforuation to the human operator. Most modern systems have only visual indi-
cators. At the same time, It seems desirable to reinforce the visual indicator
with an auditory one. The design of such indicator systems requires the knowledge
of thresholds of sound differentiation based on frequency. It was found that
ainultan9ous use of visual and anditory indicators increases perception by 6-11%

in comparison with the use of only one indicator. With some subjects, perception
was increased by as much as 35--5%- In designing auditory signals for systems
with two indicators, It should be kept In mind that the threshold of sound dif-
ferentiation based on frequency vast differ by at least 0.02 cps from the frequency
being tested. In semiautomatic control systems, the parameter which want be most
closely controlled by the husan operator should have both vinual and auditory
indicators.

tekhnologicheskoye byuro biofizappara" (SKTBBFA)
Mosgorsovnarkhoza (Independent Technical Design Office for
Biophysical Apparatus of the Mosgorsovnarkhoz) shows the
electronic machine of the MARS-200 type for automatic
temperature control and -regulation. The NIISchetmash
Gosudarstvennogo Komiteta Soveta Ministrov SSSR po
radioelektronike (Scientific Research Institute for Computers
of the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the
USSR for Radioelectronics) shows an electronic recorder for
central controls. A large number of now instruments are offered
by the Spetsiallnoye konstruktorskoye byaro po avtomatike v
neftepererabotke i proizvodstve iskusstvennogo zhidkogo

instruments are shown by the KB Tsvetmetavtomatika (Design
Office Tovetmetavtomatika). Seven instruments are discussed.
The Proyektno-konstraktorokoye byuro Ministerstva stroitellstva
RSFSR (Planning and Design Office of the Ministry for
I.onstruction of the RSFSR) offers a number of now instruments.
Three instruments are discussed. The Kharlkovskiy zavod KIP
(Kharlkov Plant KIP) also shows a number of instruments, five
of which are discussed. The same plant also manufactures a
differential gauge. The Tsentrallnyy nauchno-issladovatellskiy
institut kompleksnoy avtomatizataii (Central Scientific
Research Institute for Comprehensive Automation) also silows
instruments. The Tsentral'naya laboratoriya avtomati%ft
Ministerstva stroitel'stva RSFSR (Central Laboratory for
Automatic Devices of the Ministry forCorAtvxdm if the HSFSR)
shows tnstruments for electrochemical analysis. A nil ber of

Plant shows electronic-pneumatio control eysteam. The
IIIIKbimash (Scientific Research Institute for Chemical
Engineering) shows two electronic units. The Kharlkovskiy
zavod "Toploavtomat" (Khar1kov Works "Teploavtomat") also
offers instruments, two of which are discussed. Several
instruments of the Moskovskiy zavod "Manometr" (Moscow
"Manometr" Factory) and the Tallinskiy zavod kontrollno-
izmeritel I nykh priborov(Tallin Factory of Control- and
Measuring Instruments) are discussed. In the Kirgizskiy
sovnarkhoz (Kirgiz sov-narkhoz) several electronic signaling
devices were developed. The Llvovskiy zavod priborov (L'voV
Factory of Instruments) offers several instruments
manufactured in series. Furthermore, the instruments exhibited
in the "Elektronika,l pavilion are discussed, and instruments
and regulating devices exhibited in the "Khlopok" pavilion
and produced by the zavod "Ivmashpribor" ("Ivmashpribor"
Works) are dealt with. In the pavilion of the petroleum

ABSTRACT; This work contains a term for the fission barrier of a rct-
ating nucleus and gives an estimation if the cross section cf
the fission in case of a reaction of N 4-ions at heavy nucle-'..
The energy of roLation Erot " M2/2I hEs at M - 50 to 120~ t'le
same order as the fission barrier _(Erot P,5 to 20 YeV) and therz?-
fore in the computation of the fJ-sion barrier the rotation of
the nucleus has to be considered. The total mcdification of tlc
energy on occasion of deformation of a rotating nucleus _'q
equal to A E - 4ES +LE +,dErot, wherebyZE,9,.&E and 6)~r 0 t
denote the modification 5f the surface energy, of ih'e C-culor:ib
energy, and of the rotation energy. The rotat-i(,n e::erF)-
es at a deformation of the nucleus at a constant moment. Th,~
stable shape of the rotating nucleus is, of course, an ax4~nl-
symmetrical flattened ellipsoid, the sym;metry axis of whi:~h
has the direction of the moment. Various defor,-.ations will

which corresponi with an oblong ellij;saidg having its axis
vertical to the moment will facilitate the fission and the
deformation which corres,,cnd to an ellipsoid, havirF,* its
axis of symmetry directed parallel to the momentum w411 i:::-
pede the fission. The transition from the stable form of t~e
flattened ellipsoid to the ellipsoid takes place by means cf
axially non-symmetrical deformations. For the change oil the
total energy of a rotatin(, nucleus the extremum condition
gives 4 solutions. The physical meaning of the separate sel-
utions is shortly given. Then the cross section of the fissicn
is ascertained. In a diagram the experimental curves of t'-Ie
cross section of fission are plotted as a function of tiie
energy of the incident ions in the laboratory coordinates s,--s+-
em and compared with a theoretically computcd curve. The
agreement in qualitative respect is good. There are 2 fiCures
and 10 refere.,.ces, 7 of which are Slavic.
