Obviously the stra-am of H2S + HC1 produces a considerable replacvient of selenium by sulphur. Under such conditions the electroluminescont phosphors had emission ma-xima at wavelengths not longer than 5;50-540 nilL and their emission brightness was much smaller than that of the usual green electrolvirnus cent phosphors based on Zns-Gu. The purpose of the present work was to develop a reliablo procedure for determining tho luminescence efficiency of electroluminescont capncitora and clectroluminophors. The paper gives the results of moasurements of the yield of oloctroluminescent calls prepared in different ways-and,excited under diffurent conditions. The light flux was measured by means of a soi enium photocell with a corractinS filter; the power consumed by ft capacitor wasevaluated by an oscillographic method, for the usual method of calcu- Card 1/3 Acassiw NH: Ap4wwO lating the power consumed is valid only for sinusoidal voltages. The measurements showed that the efficiency goes throulit a mnN um with increasing voltage; with va-, riation in frequency the luminescence efficici. y risos to a peak in the range from 2000 to 4000 cps (the exact value differs for different capacitors). Measurements were also made using the same luminophor (not specified) in different dielectrics ;(resin varnishes); the best results were obtained with an epoxy resin. Tests showed that the efficiency increases with Increase of the luminophor concentration in the dielectric, but to a lesser degree than the brightness because the power consumptLcn also rises. Measurements with phosphors of different grain size indicated an in- crease in efficiency with reduction in grain size owing to reduction of the power -consumed. Aging experiments indicated that with aging the efficiency decreases more slowly than the output (brightness), again because the power consumption decreases with decrease in the conductivity of the aging luminophor.
